Ginetta Champ Kellett returns to Century for 2020 GT Cup

2018 Ginetta GT5 Challenge Champion, James Kellett, is making a return to racing with his 2018 multi-championship winning team – Century Motorsport. The 22-year old Yorkshire racer will compete in the remaining four rounds of the 2020 GT Cup Championship in a Ginetta G55 and will be partnered by rookie racer Alex Stevenson.

Kellett has been itching to get back into a real race car, after spending the past year coaching many drivers at SIMTrack (Driver Training Simulator Centre). Amongst these drivers was Stevenson, who went on to race his Honda Accord in the Classic Touring Car Championship.

Kellett and Stevenson look to be a strong driver pairing and the team are feeling confident that they will be bringing some GT Cup silverware home.

Century will be entering the GT Cup championship from the second round onwards: Silverstone next weekend (15th – 16th August), followed by Donington Park in September, with Brands Hatch and a second trip to Donington in October.

Kellett:

“I’m really looking forward to being back with Century Motorsport for the remainder of the 2020 season in the GT Cup Championship having previously won the Ginetta GT5 Championship with them back in 2018.

It was extremely disappointing that the season didn’t get off to a great start, but moving to Century and using the Ginetta G55 Supercup car, I now feel confident that myself and Alex can show what we can do and hopefully we’ll be pushing for podiums throughout the races this year.

It has always been my ambition to get back into a Ginetta and especially the G55 Supercup, it’s an awesome machine and given my links with Ginetta and  SIMTrack Driver Performance Centre, I’m sure Alex an I have the right package to be fast.”

Nathan Freke, Team Owner:

“It’s great to welcome Alex and James into the team. We have very fond memories of our success with James in 2018 and am glad to be working with him again. I’m sure Alex will settle into driving the G55 very quickly with the help from James and our substantial experience with this car. We are all excited and raring to go for the next round at Silverstone!”
