Century Motorsport to enter brand new for 2021 Ginetta GT Academy

Century Motorsport announced last week that they are fielding two cars in the brand new for 2021 GT Pro Class series, which is joining the Ginetta SuperCup grid. This week, Century Motorsport have even more exciting news for next year – they will also be running in another brand new Ginetta series – the Ginetta GT Academy.

The Ginetta GT Academy [GTA Series] offers entry level racing for drivers of all experience levels, with the field split between experienced amateur drivers and a ‘Rookie’ class for all first year drivers. All drivers will be racing in a Ginetta G55 GTA car on road-going Michelin tyres. The new series replaces the GRDC as the entry point to Ginetta racing.

Each race weekend will consist of a 20 minute qualifying session and 3x 15-minute races, all with an optional Friday test.

Just like the GT Pro Class series, there is a very attractive prize package:

  • Champion – Free entry into a Ginetta Championship of their choice, subject to eligibility.
  • Vice Champion – Half price entry into a Ginetta Championship of their choice, subject to eligibility.
  • Rookie Champion – Free entry into GTA series in the following year.

The provisional 2021 calendar is as per the below, with four rounds joining the British GT package and the season finale making an appearance at the ‘Home of British Motor Racing’, Silverstone, supporting the BTCC on the TOCA package.

Provisional 2021 Calendar

Round 1 – Snetterton (300) – 24/25 April (British GT)

Round 2 – Brands Hatch (GP) – 22/23 May (British GT)

Round 3 – Donington Park (GP) – 10/11 July (British GT)

Round 4 – Donington Park (GP) – 11/12 September (British GT)

Round 5 – Silverstone (National) – 25/26 September (BTCC)
