Century Motorsport are set for their biggest season to date in 2017 as they look to write an important new chapter into their history books with a move into the popular and highly competitive prototype sportscar arena.
Having concluded a late deal last November to travel to Estoril for the final round of the 2016 VdeV Championship to run one of Ginetta’s all new G57-P2 sportscars, the Century trio of Ben Green, Euan McKay and Rik Breukers were impressive throughout. Despite an unfortunate abrupt end to their qualifying, they charged through from the back of the field to finish third overall on the team’s prototype debut.
Having now added a further two class wins and overall podiums from this years inaugural 24H Proto Series races earlier this month in Dubai, the team have opted to commit to prototype racing with the purchase of the Euan Baldry-inspired Ginetta G57-P2, the marks all new flagship prototype sportscar that offers LMP2 pace on a more realistic budget.
Having already proven their competitiveness in both Creventic’s 24H Proto Series and the VdeV Series, Century Motorsport are now welcoming expressions of interest in racing in both of these series in 2017, in addition to considering participation in the Dutch Supercar series, all of which will feature the Ginetta G57-P2 as one of the fastest cars on the entry list.
Nathan Freke – Team Principal, Century Motorsport:
“This is a pretty major step for the team and one that I’m very proud of. Initially the deal to run the G57 in Estoril was quite last minute, but when we got there it just felt right, and the result confirmed that. Since then we’ve now completed the Dubai races, taking the first G57 victory of the 2017 season, so that is absolute confirmation for me that this is the perfect next step for us. We’ve got a superb programme of races this year and I’m really hoping we can keep our momentum going with the G57 following the success we’ve had so far with Ben Green, Daniel & Euan McKay and Rik Breukers.”
