Century Motorsport, the esteemed British motorsport team, is proud to announce its double entry into both the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance and Sprint Cup for the upcoming season. With a stellar lineup of drivers and a commitment to excellence, Century Motorsport is poised for success in one of Europe’s most prestigious GT racing championships.
Headlining Century Motorsport’s entry into the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup is the dynamic trio of Darren Leung, Jake Dennis and Toby Sowery.
After winning British GT with Century Motorsport last year in the BMW M4 GT3, and an extensive winter testing season including the Dubai 24H with the team, Darren Leung is ready to take on this next challenge.
“My objectives are clear-cut and purposeful,” said the reigning British GT champion. “Firstly, I aim to narrow the performance gap to my experienced teammates, using their expertise as a benchmark for my development.
“Secondly, it’s about capitalising on the results available to us through strong teamwork, not focusing on uncontrollables and maximising every opportunity available to us.”
BMW Motorsport factory driver and Formula E World Champion, 28 year old Jake Dennis will be joining Leung in the Endurance Series. A highly accomplished racing driver, known for his exceptional talent, and success across various motorsport disciplines. The Red Bull Racing F1 sim and development driver began his racing career in 2007 with karting before making the transition to single-seater and GT racing.
“It’s always great to continue in GT3 racing with BMW and to be racing with the British GT champions, I’m confident we can fight for class wins,” said Jake Dennis. “GTWC has some of the best GT teams and drivers out there so it will be a good challenge for us. Testing has been positive so far so I think we can go into the first race in Paul Ricard with high confidence.”
Toby Sowery quickly rose through the ranks of single-seater racing, in championships such as the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship and the FIA Formula 3 Championship. In 2019, he made waves in the United States competing in the Indy Lights Championship, where he impressed with multiple podium finishes. Known for his adaptability and commitment to excellence, Sowery continues to be a formidable force in motorsport, earning respect and admiration from fans and competitors alike.
Sowery says “I am really excited to get going, it has been a while since I have driven a GT car so it will be a great challenge for me to acclimatise to GT racing again. Century has done a really good job and I’ve got some great team mates in a very competitive field so I am hopeful for some good results!”
In the sprint races, Darren Leung will once again take to the track, this time reunited with his British GT co-driver Dan Harper. With Leung’s raw talent and Harper’s wealth of experience, Century Motorsport is gearing up for an electrifying performance in every sprint race they compete in.
“I’m looking forward to the season in GT World Challenge Sprint, my first attempt in the sprint series with GT World Challenge,” said Harper. “I’ve done the Endurance Cup the last two years, it is a very competitive championship and after our success in British GT last year I think Darren and I will be a strong bronze cup line up. Fingers crossed we get off to a good start, looking forward to getting started”
“GTWC is something we have aspired to for many years and I want to thank Darren for taking us on this journey with him”, said Nathan Freke, Team Principal of Century Motorsport. ”We have a fantastic line up of driver for both Sprint and Endurance and a great team of guys and girls who are all excited to get going.
“I think we can hope for very strong results in the Bronze class. It’s big step for us, but we are very well prepared and looking forward to round 1 at Paul Ricard in a couple of weeks.”
