Returning to the scene of some important results while on route to supporting Tom Oliphant lift the 2015 Ginetta GT4 Supercup title last year, Century Motorsport return to their local circuit, Silverstone this weekend with a three car line up for the penultimate weekend of the 2016 Ginetta GT4 Supercup.
This weekend the team welcome the return of Supercup rookies Chris Car and Gary Lancashire and joining them for his series debut will be 2014 Ginetta Junior Champion Jack Mitchell.
Gary Lancashire made his Ginetta GT4 Supercup debut in Oulton Park this year, steadily improving throughout the weekend as he acclimatised to his new G55. With the benefit of some pre-event testing ahead of this weekend’s three rounds, Lancashire will be aiming to improve on his Oulton Park results and target a maiden visit to the podium.
Taking a podium in his first weekend in the series at Snetterton, Chris Car is another newcomer to the series racing in the AM class. Returning to the team for the last round at Rockingham, Car showed that he is a fast learner as he was quickly on the pace before making a welcome to return to the podium in race three. Hoping to keep that impressive form going at the home of the British Formula 1 Grand Prix, Car will be looking to hit the ground running on Saturday morning.
Jack Mitchell was earmarked as a star of the future when he won the 2014 Ginetta Junior Championship and even attracted the attention of some of the top tier British Touring Car Teams. Since then Mitchell has competed in the Renault Clio Cup, Mini Challenge UK and just last weekend completed his maiden season in the British GT4 Championship aboard an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, with a podium at the final round last weekend in Donington Park. Returning to his Ginetta roots this weekend, Mitchell is sure to be a favourite to make a return to the Ginetta podium.
Nathan Freke – Team Principal, Century Motorsport:
“It’s good to be back to a three car line-up at our home circuit this weekend. Silverstone has been good to us on many occasions in the past, so I’m really hoping we can be back racing at the sharp end this weekend. Chris and Gary are great guys and have come on so well over the couple of events they have done with us, so I have no doubt it will be more of the same for them this weekend. Jack is a brilliant driver, we’ve raced against him in British GT this year so I know what he’s capable of and we’re certainly looking forward to this weekend.”
