Coming away from Oulton Park leading the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup championship (drivers standings – Gus Burton) after claiming two more wins and a second place finish, Century Motorsport also hit a milestone to be proud of – they became the first team to reach 100 overall podium finishes in the Ginetta SuperCup.
It was certainly a weekend for the Fenny Compton based team to remember. In Saturday’s race, 17-year-old Burton had a lightning start, grabbing the lead from experienced SuperCup racer Will Burns. Burton then led the entire race whilst also posting the fastest lap of the race by almost half a second.
35-year-old Jamie Falvey was a welcomed addition to the team at the weekend, after he made the decision to switch teams to Century Motorsport for the remainder of the 2020 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup championship. Falvey spent the first race getting used to the new Century Motorsport setup on his car, managing a P5 finish from a P7 start.
The second race was a phenomenal show from both Century drivers. Burton controlled the entire race, closely followed by Falvey, who was up three places to P2 off the start line. It was a flawless performance from both drivers, and even after a safety car period near the start of the race, both drivers held onto their positions – with Burton storming ahead, securing a 3-second lead from Falvey who was sitting comfortably in P2.
Century Motorsport are looking forward to the next Ginetta SuperCup round, which is on 19-20 September at Thruxton Circuit.
