Century Motorsport Extends Championship Lead After Strong Weekend at Thruxton

Century Motorsport continued its impressive Porsche Carrera Cup GB campaign with a successful outing at Thruxton for Rounds 5 & 6, collecting silverware and crucial championship points at the UK’s fastest circuit.

The weekend started on a positive note with strong pace in both practice sessions. Andrew Rackstraw set the tone early with P3 in FP1 and P2 in FP2, supported by solid performances from George Gamble (P4 in both sessions), Angus Whiteside (P6 & P7), and Carl Cavers, who topped FP1 and secured P2 in FP2 in the Am category.

Qualifying on Saturday delivered one of the standout moments of the season so far. Rackstraw stormed to pole position, setting the fastest ever Porsche Carrera Cup GB lap around Thruxton, showcasing both his speed and the car’s potential. Behind him, Gamble lined up P4, Whiteside P5, and Cavers secured P2 in class, putting the team in a strong position for race day.

Race 1 saw more silverware added to the collection:

  • 🥈 Rackstraw brought the car home in P2 overall

  • 🥇 Cavers secured P1 in the Am class

  • Whiteside finished a strong P4

  • Gamble crossed the line in P7

Whiteside came P2 in Race Two

Race 2 provided another fierce battle, with:

  • Rackstraw finishing P6

  • Gamble fighting to P5

  • 🥈 Whiteside claiming P2 in Pro-Am

  • 🥈 Cavers taking another P2 in Am

Alongside these impressive results, the team’s championship positions have strengthened as the series approaches its halfway point:

  • Andrew Rackstraw has extended his lead in the PRO class, now 13 points clear at the top

  • Angus Whiteside sits P5 in PRO, with George Gamble just behind in P6

  • In Pro-Am, Henry Dawes currently holds P6

  • And in the Am class, Carl Cavers is mounting a title challenge of his own in P2, just 8 points off the lead

With great performances across all classes, Century Motorsport heads into the next round full of confidence and momentum.

Next up: Croft Circuit (2–3 August), where the team will be pushing to build on this success and continue the fight for the championship.
