Century Motorsport claims Championship Lead before the Final Round

Round 8 Brands Hatch Race Report

Century Motorsport – Brands Hatch (Round 8) Race Report

Century Motorsport arrived at Brands Hatch for Round 8 of the 2025 British GT Championship aiming to strengthen their title challenges.

Qualifying Recap

  • #71 (Ramyead / Robertson): Qualified 3rd overall in GT4 and 1st in Pro-Am, setting themselves up perfectly for a strong race with class honours in sight.
  • #14 (Salkeld / Templeton): Secured 5th overall in GT4 and 3rd in the Silver Cup, a strong result to hold onto for the race.

Build-Up & Qualifying

  • The championship was tight in GT4. Century’s #71 duo (Ramyead / Robertson) were trailing the #90 Optimum McLaren (Warren / Brown) by some 23.5 points ahead of Brands. To keep the championship fight alive, #71 had to finish well and outscore Optimum by a certain margin.
  • Over the 120-minute Brands Hatch GP race, it was anything but straightforward. Brands Hatch’s tight layout, elevation changes, and unforgiving kerbs tested driver precision, especially under traffic and safety-car phases. There were incidents, strategy calls, and tension in both classes.

The Race

Brands Hatch delivered its usual drama across two hours of racing. For both Century cars, it was a case of resilience, strategy, and execution under pressure.

#71 – Ramyead / Robertson

  • Ramyead handled the opening stint, a first lap unfortunate slide resulted in slight contact, which forced the #90 Optimum car off at Druids and into the barrier, undercutting their title hopes. That incident swung a lot of momentum in Century’s favour. Ramyead kept his composure, staying close to the front runners. Ramyead then settled into a strong rhythm, defending when needed, particularly when challenges came from behind (notably from Mahiki’s #69 Ginetta driven by Luke Garlick).
  • Robertson took over and executed a faultless stint, managing traffic and pressure to bring the car home 2nd overall in GT4 and 1st in Pro-Am, despite serving a 20-second success penalty.
  • The result propelled the #71 pairing into the GT4 championship lead heading into the Donington Park GP finale.

#14 – Salkeld / Templeton

  • Their race was shaped by the 10-second pit stop penalty, which dropped them down the order during the driver change.
  • Both Salkeld and Templeton kept the car out of trouble, showed consistent pace, and maximised opportunities as rivals faltered.
  • The duo finished 5th overall in GT4 and claimed 2nd in the Silver Cup, scoring valuable points in the Silver Cup and reinforcing their season-long consistency and now sit only 11 points behind the championship leaders heading into the finale.

Team Reflections

Round 8 at Brands Hatch highlighted the strength and depth of Century Motorsport’s GT4 programme:

  • The #71 crew not only delivered a podium and class win but also seized control of the GT4 championship battle.
  • The #14 pairing proved their resilience with another Silver Cup podium, showing season long consistency and managing a race made tougher by success penalties.

With both cars scoring strongly, Century Motorsport leaves Brands Hatch firmly in the title hunt across multiple fronts. All eyes now turn to Donington Park, where the 2025 British GT Championship will be decided.
