Century Motorsport has revealed the two driver line-ups with which hopes to reclaim the Intelligent Money British GT4 Teams’ and Drivers titles this year. Reigning SuperCup champion Will Burns will partner vice champion Gus Burton in the #57 BMW M4 GT4. While Century’s regular Andrew Gordon-Colebrooke will be joined by Yorkshire based Chris Salkeld in car #9.

2020 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup champion Burns’ will take the next big step in his racing career and join Century in what will be his first outing with the team. In what will be his 9th successful season in motorsport with 22 wins, 87 podiums and 24 fastest laps Burns will start the British GT season with plenty of experience under his belt.

Burton is no stranger to the team after finishing 2nd in the 2020 Ginetta SuperCup championship and will complete the Silver/Silver class pairing. After an incredible debut in his first season of SuperCup Burton achieved numerous wins, podiums, pole positions and set the lap record around the Thruxton Circuit. In only his second senior season of racing, 18-year-old Burton will make an incredible step up to the British GT BMW M4.

Century’s Race winner regular Gordon-Colebrooke completes the  driver pairing for the #9 BMW M4 GT4. Gordon-Colebrooke, who is no stranger to team Century, will embark on his fourth consecutive season with the team. After the back of an outright win at the final round of the British GT 2020 season, Gordon-Colebrooke will be looking to continue his success this season.

After joining Century for the last two rounds of the 2020 Ginetta SuperCup, Salkeld has remained with the team to take a big step up to the British GT grid. After only starting his successful racing career in 2018, Salkeld, who is sponsored by Ainsley Harriott will begin his first full season in the Century Motorsport’s BMW.

Celebrating 26 years in Motorsport, Century are working closer than ever this year with BMW to bring a fierce competitor. Over the winter period the both of the BMW’s have had a complete nut and bolt rebuild which has enabled a fully upgraded EVO homologation package to be installed. In Century’s 13th year of the British GT Championship, Century has taken the opportunity to revamp the number of the previous 2018 championship-winning car  #43 and runner up #42 will start the championship with #9 and #57 to start a brand new era for the team.

The team have an extensive test programme lined up and are raring to go racing at the opening round of the season at Brands Hatch

Nathan Freke – Team Manager

“It’s great to be back on the grid with two new Evo-spec BMW M4 GT4s. We’ve worked so hard over the winter to make sure we are prepared to mount title challenges.

“To have the Ginetta Supercup champion and vice champion partnering up together is simply awesome and they are for sure going to be a force to be reckoned with. Having worked with Gus last year, I can say he is one of the brightest talents I’ve ever worked with. I’ve always made it clear my desire to work with Will over the year and I’m happy that we now have this chance, it’s one that we won’t be squandering.

“It’s great to welcome Andrew and Chris back to the team. Andrew has now been with us for four years and I’m very thankful for his loyalty. He knows his way around the M4 and off the back of a win in 2020, we’re hoping to pick up where we left off.

“Chris is relatively new to the team, but integrated very well and whilst he has a big task ahead and lots to learn, he has the right attitude and drive to make sure it’s right.

“With the Evo upgrade on the car, we are all so excited to go and cannot wait for round one.”

Gordon-Colebrooke

“I’m thrilled and honoured to be teaming up with Century and Chris for this season. Off the back of winning the Silverstone 500 last year it’s great to have the opportunity to take the next step and fight for the Pro-Am title.

I’m tremendously excited for this year, with mine and Century’s knowledge of the M4 combining with an impressive upgraded EVO package and a brilliant teammate in Chris, I’m incredibly optimistic that we’ll be right in the thick of things from round 1. It’s going to be a highly competitive grid this year when you look at some other driver lineups in other teams, but we’ll relish and embrace the challenge and look to come out on top.”

Salkeld

“I’ve never been more excited for a start of a season, racing in British GT is something i’d have never imagined possible 3 years ago when i started racing in the Ginetta GRDC and to be doing it with Century Motorsport & BMW is a dream come true. With the new EVO pack on the car, and Century’s experience and track record in this Championship I’m sure we’ll be a force to be reckoned with this year.

I’m delighted to be partnering Andrew this season, we have a great dynamic between us already and are both set on working harder than ever to bring even more success to Century Motorsport this season. With the signing of Andrew, i have a very experienced and fast teammate to not only work with but also learn from this season.

I have to take a moment to give a special thanks to all of my Sponsors and commercial partners for their continued support during these difficult times, without them non of this would be possible and i can’t wait to have you all track side again this year. We also welcome fans back from the first round, which is really exciting; we’ll be sure to put on a show for you all”

Burton

“I am excited to team up with Will Burns to race with Century Motorsport in The Intelligent Money 2021 British GT Championships.

Together, we will make a good competitive pairing to mount a serious challenge for the GT4 title.’

Burns

“I’m really excited to be joining Century Motorsport for the British GT Championship this season. I feel like I’ve got unfinished business in the series after my last season in 2018, so I’m pleased to have another chance to race in such a prestigious series.

“Century’s track record speaks for itself and having raced against the team for many years in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, I know how professional their operation is. I have no doubt they will give me and Gus a very quick and reliable car to compete with.

“Gus was stiff competition last season and showed how much of a talent he is, so I’m looking to racing alongside him this year. I’ve been really impressed with the BMW during my limited testing so far, so overall I think we’ve got an exciting package for the season ahead.”

The British GT season commences on the 22/23 May at Brands Hatch.
