After a hugely successful first year in the British GT4 class, where the pair came in sixth overall and third in Pro-Am, Cavers and Plato are now graduating to the GT3 Silver-Am for 2024.
With the same unmissable livery as their GT4 last year, which highlights the charity work of Solving Kids Cancer, they are now armed with the same spec BMW M4 GT3 as championship winners of 2023, and fellow Century Motorsport team mates, Leung and Harper.
The duo first raced their new M4 GT3 in Kuwait last month with Century and are continuing the Middle East championship with Abu Dhabi and Dubai over the next two weekends of gruelling endurance races, which is proving to be the ultimate pre-season test programme!
Plato is set to make his first senior class appearance since 2015. “I am delighted to be returning to British GT in 2024,” he said. “Carl and I enjoyed a tremendous season last year and now feel ready to mix it with the cream of GT3’s crop. The class is very different to when I raced a Mercedes SLS AMG there almost a decade ago, which sounds a bit surreal to be honest! Our initial focus is on Silver-Am – the class was very competitive last year and we expect it to be again.”
Meanwhile, Cavers is looking forward to stepping up for the first time after racing in the Ferrari Challenge and Porsche Sprint Cup prior to his GT4 switch last year.
“After an absolutely great first year in British GT with Century Motorsport it seemed like we’d be delaying the inevitable if we didn’t jump up to the BMW M4 GT3 in 2024,” he said. “I’m absolutely over the moon to be back on the Intelligent Money British GT3 grid, and once again joined by my great friend and stellar racing driver, Lewis. With Century’s support we’re looking forward to doing a lot more than making up the numbers.”
Team Principal Nathan Freke adds “I’m really pleased to see Carl and Lewis moving up to GT3 this year, they had a stellar 2023 and exceeded the goals they set, so it seemed sensible to take the step up a year ahead of planned.”
“Doing the Middle East endurance series is the perfect preparation for their 2024 British GT attack”, he adds. “Entering Silver AM is a good entry into the GT3 class and one that I think can be a very realistic target to fight for the championship. They work fantastically well together and we shared some great moments last season. I am looking forward to seeing what 2024 holds for them.”
“Embarking on this journey with our customers as they climb the motorsport ladder is truly rewarding. At Century, we’ve dedicated ourselves to providing this progression, and this marks the first announcement of a few more to come, showcasing the success of our customers as they advance to the next echelon in their careers. We take great pride in being part of their continued success.”
The first round of the British GT Championship will take place on Easter weekend, 30th March, at Oulton Park circuit.
