Four Driver Line Up Announced For Century Motorsport’s Entry Into The GT Academy

Century Motorsport are pleased to announce their entry into the 2022 season of the Ginetta GT Academy, with a full new driver line up consisting of Ed Acres, Tom Hartley Jnr, Michael Johnston and Lee Goldsmith. This is the first time the Warwickshire based team will be taking part in the GTA cup, as well as running the new G56’s, so this is an exciting time for both the team and drivers.

Ed Acres joins the Century team, following his amazing debut entry into racing last year in the GTA Cup where he claimed not only several podiums, but also P3 in the Rookie Class. The architect and founder of the popular YouTube channel ‘Because I Love Cars’ has already got a decent collection of trophies and Acres hopes to continue, and expand, on his success in 2022.

Luxury, Performance and Classic Car Dealer, Tom Hartley Jnr, also made his racing debut in 2021 with a successful start in the GTA, where he claimed two 3rd place podiums, ten top six finishes and earned the fastest lap at Silverstone. After that great start Hartley Jnr is hoping to add more silverware to his collection, with us this year!

Also looking forward to gaining more strong results this season is Scotsman, Michael Johnston. The financial analyst burst into racing in the G40 Cup in 2020 achieving an incredible rookie class podium finish in his first race. He continued to have four other top six finishes, despite not being able to do a full season that year so we look forward to seeing what he can achieve with Century this year.

Monaco based driver Lee Goldsmith completes the line up. Goldsmith is now into his fourth year of racing after consistently achieving great results, working up from the GRDC and G40 through to the Ginetta Supercup. Where in 2020, he gained a fantastic three, 3rd place Am Class podiums and Top 5 in the Chairmans Cup of 2019. We especially look forward to seeing him in action in this year’s GT Academy.

The season consists of 5 premium race weekends, with 4 being on the British GT calendar and 1 on the BTCC calendar. The season opener will be at Silverstone on the 7th of May, alongside the British GT race weekend.

Team Principal, Nathan Freke:

“I’m really pleased to be fielding very strong and full GTA team. GTA has been on our radar since last year after seeing what a success it was. We aim to offer a ladder of progression within century motorsport and the GTA is the very first rung. We want go on a journey with our customers from the very start of their racing career, helping them develop as drivers and potentially end up at the top of our ladder in GT3. We have put a lot of effort into preparations for this and we are very excited at what lies ahead in 2022.”
