Testimonials - Why Buy Marangoni?

"Over the last two seasons, I have been using standard Marangoni Mythos tyres for competition drifting in both British and International championships, plus numerous high profile display events across the UK. In total, I have gone through in excess of 130 tyres and I have to say that they are truly exceptional in the dry and utterly staggering in the wet. With a drift (or road tyre!), it's very important for the tyre not to de-laminate or chunk. With other brands I have used (and some very well known brands too!) this is a considerable problem. However not with the Marangoni's! Each tyre performs identically, wearing down to the markers providing consistantly high levels of predictable grip and traction right through it's life. My personal view is that if a tyre can give genuinely consistent results when subjected to the abuse thrown at it through drifting....... then it's a damn good product!"

"On the subject of tyres, I had been wracking my brain for months trying to figure out what to fit. I’d been a TOYO man before, being a huge fan of the Proxes T1-S in its heyday. To my mind, its successor, the T1-R had never quite had the same ability. At least not in the dry anyway. Having done a bit of forum research and asked a few people in the know, the Marangoni name seemed to keep cropping up again and again. This Italian tyre manufacturer produce a wide range of ultra-high performance tyres in most popular tuner sizes. Speaking to a couple of other journos who had run them, they were most impressed, particularly in the wet. They aren’t ridiculously expensive either, and have a most attractive case design (daft detail I know - but I like stuff like that!). I had ordered a set of the Mythos in the correct 225/40/18 fitment, which Darren from Performance made short work of fitting and balancing onto my new rims.

Rolling the car out and settling the suspension, it was good to stand back and see the difference we had made. The car looked far more aggressive and the wheels filled the arches with a true sense of purpose, Firing up the car quickly brought up the salientt tyre info on the neat Tyresure display, allowing me to quickly toggle between pressure and temperature. On my initial test-drive with the new set-up, the increased track of the new wheels was also immediately obvious. The car turned in far more readily and felt much more accurate. Interesting to note also how much your tyre pressures and temperatures rise during a ‘spirited’ drive, with the Tyresure beaming this all back as I pressed on. The Marangonis impressed from the outset, with seemingly endless levels of grip of her Majesty’s Highway.. even in quick sweeping turns. It will be great to get them scrubbed in and then out on track to see what they can really do."

"I'd been running Toyo 888's on my M3 road/trackday car for quite a while and have always been pretty happy with them, but when a test-driver friend from Lotus suggested that I give Marangoni Zeta Linea's a try as he ran them on all his personal cars, I thought I'd give them a bash.

I have to admit, I was a touch sceptical as to how good they would be, solely because they were so much less expensive than the other brands I've used in the past, but that scepticism passed the very second they were fitted to my car. They are, quite simply - brilliant.

Firstly, the road noise- which had always been hideous on the Toyos- was greatly reduced. The ride comfort was also much improved, and despite the Zeta Linea being a standard road tyre (the Toyo R888 is a semi slick track tyre!) the turn in was sharper, the handling considerably crisper and the cars un-predictable rear end (which I'd previously spent thousands trying to cure) had finally gone, meaning I can now use the car without having to carry a spare pair of trousers everywhere.

Furthermore, the ever-present and always-tedious tram-lining and camber-hunting characteristics present in all cars of this ilk was significantly reduced, meaning I no longer have to constantly saw away at the wheel making endless tiny corrections, making the overall experience much more enjoyable, and much less exhausting.

Best of all though, the Zeta Lineas really do grip just as well in the wet, something that cannot be said of any previous high-performance high-end brand I've tried, and the M3 has gone from being an expensive inconvenience that can only be used in the dry, to a useable, enjoyable, capable all- rounder in any weather. Never again will I have to walk home if it looks a bit cloudy. I can't tell you happy that makes me, but if I ever drive past you, you'll be able to tell from the look on my face, and the dryness of my clothes.

So. They grip like a bad habit whatever the weather, they cost less than half as much to buy, and they make even the mostly recalcitrant of cars a pleasure to drive. The only bad thing about them I can see is that I don't have them on all my cars- something I intend to rectify when they next need replacing.

If you've always been a tyre snob like me, or are soon to be due for a new set of boots, I really couldn't recommend them more. You'll be amazed, you'll get where you're going much more quickly, you'll arrive much more relaxed, and you'll save a small fortune. You can use the money you save to buy me something nice, if you like. "
